Player of the Week: Mike Bocklet

January 9, 2017
This week's Player of the Week is attackman Mike Bocklet.

Mike was picked up from the 2015 Denver Outlaws Open Tryouts and immediately was an integral part of the Outlaws attack.  During his two seasons with the Outlaws he has scored 67 goals, tallied 35 assists and scooped up 28 ground-balls.

Favorite part about your hometown:

MB: There are a ton of lakes, mountains, and reservations in my hometown. Although it's only 45 minutes North of NYC, it has a very Adirondack feel to it and there are a ton of outdoor activities to be had. Plus most my family still lives in the area and they are fun people

Favorite Food:

MB: Can never go wrong with some fresh seafood! Clams, steamers, lobster, fish.. steamed, baked, or raw I am in!

Best vacation you have ever been on:

MB: I am going to consider living in Telluride for a year an extended vacation. Everyday was skiing, festivals, and/or some type of outdoor activity in one of the most beautiful ares of the country.

Favorite Movie:

MB: Braveheart - Its just really good

Favorite Holiday:

MB: Thanksgiving - You don't have to do anything but hang with family and friends and eat

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

MB: The power to fly.

Who is your all-time favorite athlete?

MB: There are a lot of NY athletes that I grew up idolizing. Right now, Eli Manning is my all time favorite. I am a big Giants fan and I have a lot of respect for what he has accomplished. He has played in every single game since the start of his career and doesn't let NY fans bother him.

If you could have lunch with any person living or dead who would it be?

MB: Will Farrell

Do you have any pre-game superstitions?

MB: Fresh tape on the stick and fresh socks on the feet

Best part about playing in Denver.

MB: Everything! Denver is the best organization from top to bottom. Best city, venue, fans, players, and staff!

Best moment in your lacrosse career, so far:

MB: Stepping on the field as a Denver Outlaw alongside my brothers Matt and Chris was pretty amazing. But winning the MLL championship this past summer is definitely the best moment of my career.

When did you start playing lacrosse and what made you start playing?

MB: 5th grade

Advice you would give to kids just starting to play lacrosse:

MB: Spend hours in the backyard and/or playground playing with just your stick. Watch college and MLL players and mimic what they do. Pretend you have an opportunity to hit the game winning shot and come up with a 1,000 different ways to do it. It's a fun game, enjoy it!
