Outlaws Claim League Lead with 22-9 Win Against the Nationals

March 18, 2016
In a battle of the best, the Denver Outlaws came out on top. The Outlaws handed the Hamilton Nationals, who entered the matchup as the only other unbeaten team in the league, a 22- 9 defeat Saturday evening in front of 4,796 fans. Denver reached the 20-goal mark for the fourth time this season, breaking the franchise single-season record.

“In all my time [in the MLL], I can’t remember a team going 6-0 to start the season,” said faceoff specialist Anthony Kelly. “It’s a great step in the right direction. It’s a step for us to go to that next level and continue moving forward, and hopefully we stay at that No. 1 spot the rest of the way.”

In his MLL debut following his graduation from the University of Denver earlier in the day, Eric Law was named the Player of the Game. The attackman netted four goals after earning the starting nod in the second half.

“To be able to get the opportunity to play [at Mile High Stadium] from [general manager] Tony Seaman and Coach [Stagnitta] is unbelievable and a lifelong dream come true for sure,” he said.
