DENVER –The Denver Outlaws traded defenseman Joe Cinosky to the Charlotte Hounds in exchange for the rights to draftee Chris Bocklet and the Hounds’ third-round pick in the 2012 MLL College Draft, the team announced on Monday.
“Gaining the draft rights to Chris Bocklet is a major plus for the Outlaws,” Outlaws General Manager
Tony Seaman said. “He is one of the top scorers in Division I this year we are very excited about his potential in the MLL.”
Bocklet, who was drafted in the fourth round (29
th overall) of the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Hounds, has posted 36 points (28 G, 8 A) thus far in the 2012 season for the top-ranked Cavaliers.
For his NCAA career, the attackman has totaled 129 goals and added 28 assists for 157 points in 58 games.
In 2011, Bocklet ranked 10
th in Division I lacrosse with 2.44 goals per game and led the country with a 35-game goal-scoring streak. He became the 13
th Cavalier to reach the 100 career goal plateau, and helped the team to the National Championship.
As a sophomore in 2010, he earned honorable mention all-America honors and led Virginia with 53 goals, becoming the first player to score 50 goals in a season for the Cavaliers since 1996.
Bocklet’s brother, two-time All-Star Matt Bocklet, ranked second on the Outlaws with 47 ground balls during the 2011 season.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to potentially play with Chris,” Bocklet said. “It has been a goal of mine to play long enough in the MLL to be on the same team as him, but I did not think it could become possible this soon. It’s going to be a great summer for the Outlaws.”
