Jeremy Sieverts earns All-Star Game nod, again

On Tuesday, Jeremy Sieverts along with Outlaw teammates Eric Law, Anthony Kelly and Michael Simon received the news that they’d be heading to Boston at the end of the month for the 2014 MLL All-Star Game.

Sieverts has made All-Star Game selections a tradition since coming to Denver in 2012—this year will mark his third-straight appearance in the game featuring the league’s top players. The 6-3, 205-pound midfielder is tied for fifth in the league in points and goals with 19 and 12, respectively. He ranks first for two-point goals with four on the year, and says although he only gets a few opportunities from deep per game, he still makes sure he’s always ready.

“I spend some time on (my two-point shot) every time I go out and shoot,” Sieverts said. “It’s a huge momentum shift.”

The trip to Boston and the festivities surrounding the All-Star Game will be familiar territory for Sieverts. The University of Maryland product made his first All-Star Game in 2012 and finished that season ranking top-10 in points, goals and two-point goals. He also earned MLL’s Most Improved Player award that year. A season later he was in Charlotte, N.C. for his second All-Star Game during a year in which he finished eighth in the league in points and helped lead Denver to an undefeated regular season.

“I’m thrilled as always to be selected as an All-Star,” he said. “It’s quite an honor. It’s just as much an individual thing as it is my team and coaches. … I think being selected as an All-Star is just a byproduct of playing for a great team a great organization.”

And Sieverts, though excited about another All-Star Game selection, isn’t focusing on the personal accomplishments. He wants the ultimate team accolade.

“Number one team goal is to win an MLL team championship, it’s not a secret,” Sieverts said. “A team goal is to get that (first-round) home playoff game. Much more than anybody else we have a bigger home field advantage. The first goal is to earn that, then the second one is obviously to win two games in the playoffs.”
