BRIAN REESE RESIGNS AS OUTLAWS GM

DENVER – Brian Reese has stepped down as general manager of the Denver Outlaws, the team announced on Thursday. Reese held that position since the team entered the MLL in 2006. Reese also coached the Outlaws from the fifth game of the 2007 season through 2010, posting a record of 30-14 (.682) as head coach.

“I would like to thank Mr. Bowlen, Joe Ellis and Mac Freeman for giving me the opportunity to join the franchise six years ago,” Reese said.

“I appreciate the faith they showed in me and have learned a tremendous amount from the many great people in the Denver Outlaws’ organization.

“At this time, it is best for me and my family to step down from my position with the Outlaws. I will miss the players, the staff and the great fans in Denver. Denver is a special place, and I know the team will have continued success in the future.”

During Reese’s tenure, the Outlaws led the league with six winning seasons, 49 total wins, a +137 goal differential and a .681 winning percentage. Denver reached the postseason in each of Reese’s six seasons as general manager, the only MLL team to accomplish that feat.

“The entire Denver Outlaws organization would like to thank Brian for all of his work over the past six seasons,” Outlaws President Mac Freeman said.

“The entire Denver Outlaws organization would like to thank Brian for all of his work over the past six seasons,” Outlaws President Mac Freeman said. “When Cathy got the opportunity at Maryland, I think we all knew this day would come, and while Brian will be missed, we all know that this is best for the Reese family.

“Under his guidance, the Outlaws have become one of the league’s premier franchises by any measure. We sincerely appreciate Brian’s dedication toward this team and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Reese is a volunteer coach on the women’s lacrosse team at the University of Maryland, where his wife, Cathy, is the head coach. He and Cathy live in Baltimore with their three children – Riley, Brody and Cayden.
