Jason Lamb to Join Outlaws Staff as Assistant Coach

DENVER — The Denver Outlaws have hired Jason Lamb as an assistant coach, it was announced on Thursday. Lamb currently serves as director of lacrosse at Adams State College in Alamosa, Co., where he coaches both the men’s and women’s teams.

“Jason comes to us with a ton of lacrosse experience at many different levels,” Outlaws General Manager Brian Reese said. “We are happy to add a coach of Jason's caliber to our staff.”

Prior to coaching at Adams State, Lamb worked as the head men’s lacrosse coach at Brigham Young University from 1995-2010. During his career with the Cougars, Lamb compiled a 213-69 (.755) record and guided his teams to three Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association championships along with seven Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference titles. He earned MCLA Coach of the Year honors in 2006.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to work with the best lacrosse players in the world,” Lamb said. “This is a unique challenge to learn from the best while contributing to the team’s drive to a first ever MLL Championship.”

Lamb has international lacrosse experience, having coached the USA West All-Stars in 2002, ‘04 and ‘06. His teams have compiled a combined 34-5 (.872) record in international play, winning the 2002 Open Division Championship at the International Lacrosse Federation World Games in Perth, Australia, the 2004 Prague Cup and the 2006 ASPAC Championship in Osaka, Japan.

He was also active in growing the sport as a board member for U.S. Lacrosse from 2001-03 and founded Utah County Lacrosse, LLC, a company devoted to creating and organizing youth lacrosse leagues. While at BYU, Lamb organized and directed all aspects of the Cougars’ Summer Lacrosse Camps that have served over 5,000 youth players.

While a student at BYU, Lamb played for the club team and as a junior and senior moved into a player-coach role. Following his graduation and playing career, Lamb became the program’s first-ever non-playing coach.

A 1986 graduate of Rocky Point High School in Long Island, N.Y., Lamb played lacrosse, soccer and wrestled – a path that originally took him to BYU, which dropped the program soon after his arrival on campus.

Lamb, who completed a two-year church mission to Italy while in college, is married to Megan, and the couple has five children, all of whom play lacrosse. A native of Rocky Point, N.Y., Lamb graduated from BYU in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Italian.
