Week 4 preview: Outlaws vs. Lizards

Week 4 game notes

Outlaws at Lizards! Back to the Island baby; this is what the sport is all about! The last time your Denver Outlaws lost a game, it was in the Major League Lacrosse semifinals to none other than the Long Island Lizards, a team that Denver has historically kept under wraps.

Long Island’s semifinal win was the first time in eight meetings that the Lizards were able to walk away the victors. Not a great way to end a very positive 2010 season for the Outlaws.

Despite the one seemingly one-sided record between these two clubs, it’s always a fight. Anyone who follows this sport regularly has this game circled. A tough, gritty defense and a slick high-powered offense make Long Island a team to focus in on. Any time that you have guys with names like Gurenlian, Polanco, and Danowski, it’s a relief to know that you can call on your own defenders with equally impressive names: Schwartzman, Cittadino, and Giannone. Something tells me that ‘Ma is going to be breaking out the parm this weekend.

A question that is sure to come up is which team will Mr. & Mrs. Unterstein be cooking for? This matchup officially outdoes any other in dividing up not two, but three brothers; Michael and Christopher Unterstein play for Long Island, and Kevin is a cornerstone of your Outlaws defense. Furthermore, this game is being played on the sacred ground that is the Hofstra Pride’s home turf; a place where all three Unterstein brothers defended during their Division 1 careers. Who doesn’t love it when brothers meet up to play for keeps? Hey ‘Ma, looks like you better cook double.

Let’s Ride Outlaws Nation,
