Foothills Conference Week at a Glance
Chatfield High School
The Chatfield Chargers Boys Lacrosse team, lead by Head Coach Kyle Lambert, are striving to continue their success from last year with returning seniors Mitch Erickson, Hayden Kammerzell, and Zach Kammerzell. The team finished the 2010 season 1st in the Foothills Lacrosse Conference and 4thin the state. Chargers’ games to watch for in the 2011 season are against Kent Denver High School on March 19, Wheatridge High School on April 11, and Columbine High School on April 22. The Chargers kick off their season this Saturday against Boulder High School at 7 pm.

Wheatridge High School
Lead by Coach Chris Knott, the Wheatridge High School Farmers Boys Lacrosse team hopes to maintain their strong no. 2 seed standing in the Foothills Conference and 10th overall in the upcoming 2011 season. The Farmers hold a strong returning team lead by seniors: Sandler Apet, Will Baker, Connor Burgwald, Tim Carolan, Wheatridge’s 2nd ranked top goalie Cody DeForge, Andy Field, Brandon Gill, Jackson Herd, Cole Martin, Ryan Osse, the Farmer’s top offensive scorer, Nick Ossello, Dylan Peper, Hing Poon, Chris Roach, Chris Sanchez, and Kevin Ziegler. A game to watch this season will be against the Columbine High School Rebels March 13 at 4 pm at Trailblazer Stadium.

The Wheatridge Farmers Girls Lacrosse team, coached by Carol Degenhart, was ranked closely with the Dakota Ridge High School Eagles in the 2010 season Foothills conference. Seniors Paige Labonte, Alex Peirano, Kaitlyn Bradford, Elise McBride, and Whitney Roberts have big shoes to fill after losing two seniors to graduation— Wheatridge’s top offensive player, Kelsey O’Connor and top goal tender, Whitney Zerr. The Farmers will get their chance to fill in O'Connor and Zerr's former positions while taking on the Dakota Ridge High School Eagles March 24 at 4 pm.

Columbine High School
Head coach, Matt Plitnick and the Columbine High School Rebels’ Boys Lacrosse team will be starting the season off by playing Regis Jesuit High School. This game would be a huge win for Columbine as Regis Jesuit is a team the Rebels did not face in the 2010 regular season and who took 2nd in state in 2010. The Rebels ended the 2010 season 20th in the state and 3rd in the league. Key games for the Rebels will be against Golden High School on March 21 and against Chatfield High School on April 25 .

There are no games this coming week for Columbine Girls Lacrosse. Alise Steiner, the head coach of Columbine Rebels looks to stay on the winning path this season. The Lady Rebels are ranked 3rd in state for the 2011 season by posting a record of 17-1 with a 9-0 league record in 2010. The Rebels are now ranked 1st in their league going into the season making them the team to beat in the Foothills Conference.

Evergreen High School
Lead by Coach Jon Cohen, the 2010 Evergreen High School Cougars Boys Lacrosse team was ranked 4th in the Foothills Conference and will continue to strive upward in the 2011 season. Their must see games are against the 3rd and 5th ranked teams in their Conference—the Green Mountain High School Rams on March 11 and the Columbine High School Rebels on March 23. The Rams top goal tender, Matt Hoff, and 2nd ranked offensive player, Christian Snyder, will return this year to contribute to the Cougars 2011 season.

The Evergreen High School Cougars Girls Lacrosse team is looking to improve their rank for the 2011 season. The team has a solid base with four of out of five of their top players returning. Seniors, Emma O’Connor, Anna Marie Autry, and Amy Leitch will be accompanied by junior Sam Lemley to revive a team which already has great team chemistry. During the 2011 season, the Cougars hope to bring home a winning season to Evergreen.

Golden High School
In the 2010 season the Golden High School Demons Girls Lacrosse team held an impressive 3rd place ranking in the Foothills Conference. The Demons maintained a strong team last year to support their 3rd place seed in the Foothills’ Offensive Leaderboards as well as 4th in the Goaltending Leaderboards. This year lead by, Head Coach Jody Tucker, watch the Golden Demons Girls play against Mullen High School on March 19 and Ralston Valley High School on April 21.

Conifer High School
The Conifer High School Lobos Boys Lacrosse team starts off their season playing Eaglecrest High School, a team they did not face in the 2010 season. Head coach, Tyler Knaner looks to start the season off on the right foot by winning their season opener against Eaglecrest. The Lobos Boys are ranked 6th in there conference from last season and finished 44th overall in the state.

The Lady Lobos look to start of this season with a bang by winning their first game against the Eaglecrest Raptors on March 10 at 4 pm. The Lobos are confident they can win the game against the Raptors, a team whom they dominated last season in a16-4 victory. They hope to start off with that same power and make a strong initial impact on women’s Colorado high school lacrosse. The Lobo’s finished last season 33rd in the state and 9th in league.

Green Mountain High School
Greg Romero will lead the Green Mountain High School Rams Boys Lacrosse team as they look forward to a successful 2011 season by first hosting Boulder High School on March 19 at 11 am. Returning seniors Zach Goplen, Tanner Lichty, Jesus Olvera, Tyler Perdue, Even Ritt, and Alec Sisneros will create a strong base for the team in the 2011 season. Watch for these seniors and teammates to take the field in a “must see game” against Evergreen High School March 11 at 4 pm.

The Green Mountain High School Girls Lacrosse team was ranked no. 5 overall in the Foothills Conference in the 2010 season. Senior, Ellen Levish, was tied for the 5th place on the goal tending leaderboards in the 2010 season and plans return to reclaim her reign for the 2011 season. Green Mountains top offensive player, junior Maddi Ossello, will also return to play for the Rams in the 2011 season. It looks like the Green Mountain Girls Lacrosse team has all the tools to succeed this season as they compete in the Foothills Conference.

Englewood High School
The Englewood High School Pirates Boys Lacrosse team, lead by Mark Baker, have a lot of growing room and potential in the Foothills Conference this year. Last years top performing player, junior Joseph Sullivan will return for the 2011 season to push the Pirates towards a stronger record. The nine senior Pirates will lead a young team of seven freshmen in their season opener against Gateway High School March 10 at 4pm.

Game of the Week
This weeks Boys Game of the Week is between the Golden High School Demons’ lacrosse team and the Prairie View High School Thunderhawks on March 11 at 4 pm. to be played at Trailblazer Stadium. The Demons were ranked 6th last year in the Foothills Conference, while Prairie View was the 9th seed in the Northern Conference. Lead by Coach Kurt Ohlen and top offensive player Tom Candlin, along with seniors Robbie Aaron, Lukas Fluitt, Ben Francisco, Paul McDonald, and Tim Topper the Demons will be ready to dominate the field come Friday. Join the Denver Outlaws on March 11 at Trailblazer Stadium in supporting the Golden Demons boys lacrosse team for "The Game of the Week."
