Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, and the Denver Outlaws announced the official 2010 game schedule today, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. This is the league’s 10th anniversary, and the schedule features 36 regular season games between the six MLL teams, along with pre-season training camps and special events. Training camps begin on Saturday, April 24 and the first weekend of the regular season starts on Saturday, May 15. The Outlaws begin their quest for a championship on the road against Boston on May 15 in a rematch of last year's first MLL Semifinal game.
“We are very excited to release the 2010 schedule,” said Gross. “Building off of a successful 2009 campaign, the summer of 2010 offers fans another summer of the best lacrosse in the world. Last summer we saw more milestones as the Denver Outlaws again broke the attendance record with 21,952 fans on July 4th and the Toronto Nationals captured the Steinfeld Cup for being league champions in their first season of play.”
This year will feature a number of exciting games and will showcase some of the biggest match-ups in Outlaws history. First and foremost Denver will open its home schedule against the team's newest rival, the Long Island Lizards, on Saturday, May 22. In Week 3, the Toronto Nationals will visit INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver in a rematch of the Championship Game from 2009. Another rematch from last season's post-season will occur in Week 5 when Denver visits Boston once again. See the complete Outlaws schedule below.
"We are hungry to get back on the journey to a championship," said Outlaws Head Coach and General Manager Brian Reese. "This schedule will be difficult but we are especially looking forward to ending our regular season in front of our home fans.”
