March 18, 2016
DENVER -- Saturday night the Denver Outlaws welcomed the Chesapeake Bayhawks to Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Going into the game the Outlaws and the Bayhawks were tied for second place in the league.

While it was a close game the Bayhawks finished with an 18-16 lead over the Outlaws, dropping them to third place. With Saturday’s loss the Outlaws are now 3-2 in the regular season.

Chesapeake opened with a goal, but the Outlaws quickly responded with a score from Terry Kimener.

Nearly a minute later Mark Matthews scored his first career goal. Matthews was drafted by the Outlaws from the University of Denver this season and made his MLL debut on Saturday. He went on to score three additional goals with two assists, two of which were on a powerplay. The outlaws also welcomed midfielders Kevin Vaughan, Drew Snider and Colin Briggs to the lineup as the trio wrapped up their college careers.

Denver held the lead through the first half with goals from Brendan Mundorf, Drew Snider and Justin Pennington and a notable two-point goal from Jeremy Sieverts.

Mundorf totaled three goals and 5 assists in the game with the five assists tying a team record that has been reached twice before – including once by Mundorf.

In the third quarter Drew Westervelt of the Bayhawks scored his only goal of the night to tie the score 10-10.

Jordan Mcbride scored three goals in the second half to try and keep the Denver lead but Steven Brooks of the Bayhawks answered with four points.

The Bayhawks sealed the win with a goal from Ben Ruberor with 2 minutes left in the game.
